Study Objectives:

Cílem interaktivní přednášky je seznámit studenty s nejdůležitějšími odbornými termíny, které se vyskytují v anglickém jazyce v oblasti AV průmyslu - se zvláštním důrazem na právní a obchodní problematiku ( Legal and Business Affairs). Přednáška je určena zejména těm studentům, kteří potřebují svou znalost obchodní angličtiny zlepšit či prohloubit. Bude vedena v angličtině ( s překladem vybraných pojmů do češtiny).

Mode of delivery:

Interactive lecture, discussion, detailed analysis of trade texts.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Lecture is intended, particularly for students who need to improve or enrich their knowledge of business English. The course will be in English (with translations of selected concepts into Czech) and is appropriate for students mastering the English language, at least, at the intermediate level.

Description of individual block :

1. The Producer's Craft. Producing and production in the film and TV industries. The stages of development, pre-production, production, post-production and distribution. The rights to be considered, contracts to be signed.

1.1 Introduction to Film and TV Marketing. The cornerstones of marketing theory. Marketing communications for film and TV.

1.2 Business Affairs. Business negotiations and bargaining; its rules and techniques. The contract process. Business correspondence and its rules. The art of presentation, making a sales pitch.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students will participate in class in which they will be introduced to the basic range of knowledge. Instruction takes place in two blocks each of which will be completed with a credit exam.
