Mock-up of a publication dealing with the city center of Prague
The city of Prague is currently undergoing observable changes. Along with Wenceslas Square we see as well the „pulsing“ metropolitan center and other locations. Prague is becoming a cosmopolitan and dynamic city. Every day we see around us interesting situations, new contexts or interesting city scenes. Chronicle these changes in fresh and personal manners and create from these photos a publication...
Working process:
1/ selection of place and write up of an outline of the project on A4
2/ after consultation with the instructor, photograph and as well bring out new contacts or views
3/ select 20-30 photos and create a book mock-up
4/ final form of the publication is to be finished in June 2010.

Required participation in the classes (in which the condition is participation in 60% of lecture hours) 25%
Consultations over developed work - from assignment to final implementation 25%
(Explication of the concept and selected topic, contact sheets, working preview copies, selection and arrangement of photos with marked order in the collection or simple mapping of the final treatment on a page.
Grading of the subsequent work 50%.

What is relevant in contemporary documentary photography and why?
Why can we freely work/photograph in „public spaces?“
What is the difference between so-called „private“ and „public spaces?“
We try to adopt and use „documentary principles.“
What are they? Then there is the so-called „private space“ which, if we understand it, we can successfully work in it....
What is, by the way, the difference between the „documentary“ approach and the so-called „conceptual?“
