www.sluban.com

Description:

A unique experience combing three major aspects of contemporary photography: defining one's own work according to the photos submitted, producing a personal series of photos during the days based on a previous personal and photographic experience, giving one's own series an appropriate presentation: slideshow, exhibition, book...

Sessions will consist of discussing interns' work submitted in group. A comprehensive reading of each work will be done taking into account the intern's own intentions, opening to major photographers and streams of photography. Another part will consist of having each participant produce a personal series during the days of the workshop. A comprehensive editing will be done in order to build a coherent and relevant personal series. Personal sessions will be held with the participants, besides the group work.

.WORKSHOP CONTENT:

- Daily photography sessions

- Introduction to photography as a profession

- Definition of a photographic project

- Analysis of the participant´s earlier work and assessment of his/her level

- Individual and group analysis of the previous day´s work

CV

Klavdij Sluban is a French photographer of Slovenian origin based in Paris., he continues the development of his rigorous and coherent body of work. Although he held a Masters' degree in Anglo-American literature, little by little, he gave up teaching to commit wholly to photography. Never inspired by immediate and sensational current affairs, Sluban's numerous photography trips are permeated with literary references for example, Beckett, Milton. The Black Sea, the Caribbean, the Balkans, and Russia can be read as many successive steps of an in-depth study of a patient proximity to the encountered real. In 1997, his work Balkans Transits, which he published with François Maspero, was awarded the RFI (International French Radio) prize. Since 1995, when not abroad, Sluban has run photography workshops with young offenders in prison. First originated in France, in the prison of Fleury-Mérogis with support from Henri Cartier Bresson etc.
