Study Objectives:

To introduce students with the particular camera resources in animated film in the creative and technical sense.

The student should be able, upon completion, to professionally communicate with colleagues in post-production in future creations.

As well the lectures will guide the students to a better understanding of the cameraman's work with which they will have future contact. This enables better orientation in the potential and limits in animated image creation.

Mode of delivery:

Instruction is through lectures with practical examples of the technology and techniques in tha Animation People film studio.

As well the students will get a chance to observe current filming, or prepared scenes in which the filming modes and potential is presented.

Student will to a large extent be presented with international animation creations with consideration of the various scanning technologies.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Fundamental knowledge from the „Film technology“ course.

Fundamental knowledge about recording animated films.

No prerequisites.

Course contents:

1/ The fundamental physics concepts in film and a review of some elements from the „Film Technology“ course.

2/ Various technology and possibilities in recording animated film with an emphasis on „hand animation.“

3/ The technological processin completion and postproduction in animated film and potential intervention into the image during and after filming.

4/ Lighting an animated scenes and the dependent fundamentals between the screenwriter and the „camera“ in an animated work.

5/ Historical and contemporary technology; using traditional processes and potential with current digital technology.

6/ The basics of digital recording with a preference for optical imaging.

7/ Fim aids and practical experience in filming a completed animated work.
