Student learns how to use proper exposure, simple lighting, and elementary film language. Bolex as the most famous and ingenious film camera can be used in many ways, also as a special effect camera. The experience gained can be used later in 35mm, DC4K or any TV projects.

Technical equipment:
Film Camera BOLEX EBM, tripod, timer, time-laps counter, Bolex lenses. One roll (122 m) of black and white daylight film negative KODAK EASTMAN Double X 7222, speed 250 ASA. After developing process negative is scanned to DPX 2K and processed digitally in HD resolution.

- Course contents:

Black-and-white film etude focused on movement, framing, and visual narration. No sound, no dialogue. One or two figures as part of visual cinematic idea. Figure in space, figure in darkness, section of a figure as part of linear composition. Student uses variable frame-rate, timing of time laps exposure, multiple exposition. The image follows the rhythm of selected music. A screenplay is not necessary, but student prepares the storyboard with tutor.

Presentation:
Student presents the exercise in digital format on big screen. Exercise must have a title and credits.
The project is evaluated by the tutor in the screening.
