Students learn key historical milestones in the constitution and the development of the documentary film, important trends, personalities and other contextual influences. In addition students see demonstrations or the entire selected works as a samples of discussed strategies and approaches.

Basic overview of the historical context of mainstream cinema is appreciated and welcome.

- Course contents:

Since the end of the 1920s the documentary film belongs between the specific historical phenomena in the field of cinema, as such is conceived in terms of production and terms of distribution as well. The aim of the course is to introduce the key moments of this stream through interpretation and student?s spectator experience. Part of the course is also a debate about the methods in feature film represented by narrative strategies.

An essay on the specified topic in the range of 3 ? 4 pages or pitched and on deeper knowledge based concept of a documentary film in the range of 3 - 5 pages + final test.
