Study Objectives:

The aim of the course is to guide students to the basics of programming and present its applications in audiovisual creations. No previous knowledge is required. In the first phase the basic function and program procedures will be proposed, then two small applications will be implemented on various platforms with access to sound or image. A significant part of the course will be devoted to interactivity and software use in physical interface for mastering sound and image. All applications will proceed with freely available software.

Mode of delivery:

Lecturer introduction, presentation of examples. Independent moderated work on examples.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Recommended for those who have completed „Basics of AV Technology 1“ and „Interactivity and Physical Computing.“

„Interactive and Physical Computing“ course.

Course contents:

1. Introduction to issues. Survey of technology used appropriate for general sets. General principles. Basic structures. Agorithmization.

2. QuartzComposer - fundamental interaction, input devices, basic videoplayers and effects processors.

3. QuartzComposer - detection of input parameters, working with sensor values and changes, input calibrations

4. QuartzComposer - more complex structures, object rendering, 3D models.

5. QuartzComposer - network communication, RSS, LAN communication, remote computer control.

6. QuartzComposer - independent work

7. Processing - introduction to the environment, basic application structure, structure management examples and data types.

8. Processing - basic registry and functions for playing video and sound.

9. Processing - camera use, recording to a file.

10. Processing - generated graphics and working with text.

11. Processing - Independent work.
