David Musil (*1978)Graduated from Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University in Brno (Media and Communication Studies, 2005 and International Relations and European Studies, 2004). Currently studying PhD at the FAMU. Worked for Czech Television, TV Nova, Ogilvy PR Wordwide London and number of leading Czech papers, currently Creative Editor in Documentary Production Group in Czech Television and Fiction Content Development Manager in MediaPro Pictures.

Docu-cross-genres as an option for TV and cinema

by David Musil

Seminar by the Czech cross-genre expert and TV creative producer David Musil,focusing on cross-genres of fiction and documentary and placing emphasis on explanation of mutual interconnection of docu-formats: particularly docusoaps, docurealities, docudramas and dramadocs.Feature and documentary films appear in plenty of types and forms. The seminar will present specific types of docu-formats, their definition and aspects of practical production of docu-cross-genres: audience, setting, location, characters, time, plot, story, fact and fiction.An integral part of the seminar will be screenings of illustrating teasers and their analysis. The seminar will explain some characteristic attributes of docu-formats, their differences and variety, methods of production, time demands, rating or placement in TV programme schemes.
