Mastery of manner of play in symphony orchestras. Instrument and performance mastery of orchestra composition repertoire. An emphasis is placed on flexibility in technique for mastering a composition in the shortest possible time, independent part preparation in bowing, fingering. Introduction to the practical side of playing in an orchestra - following conductor gestures, collective manner of performance thought, tuning and intonation, the role of the concert master and leading groups.
