Learning outcomes of the course unit:

More complex and more demanding movement step combinations in a phrase. More difficult executions of Bohemian, Moravian, Silesian and Slovak dances.

Mode of study:

Method preparations for folk dance instruction for the 5th study year. Creating a model instruction lesson.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Folkdance Methods 3 is required.

Recommended optional programme components:

An elective element is the attendance at, a minimum of one, folklor performance or festival during the bachelor study.

Course contents:

Dance steps in phrases with rhythm at the barre: rhythmed weight suspensions and stretches in all positions and complex combinations. Hajduchova's elements of the Odzemek and Ondraš dances. Shifts parallel and non-parallel and sequential in placing the head to the barre. Beats in various rhythms variations. Karičkova stamps and their variations.

Basic motifs of folkdance: Basic motifs of folkdance of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia covered for the 3rd and 4th zears in pairs and trios. Furiant motifs (Stps with stamps, claps and jumps), Skočna in combination with jumping straddles. Haduch steps in simple combinations. Practice and preparations of simple lifts.

Sklepakove steps in double and triple time in pair holds in turns to the right, left. Valašsky steps movement and jumps in all directions, in turns and phrases with additional steps (hajduch, větvičky, basic steps, held steps). Basic simple steps of Slovak folk dances.

Dance repertoire: Sousedská, Rejdovák and rejdovačka, Dances with changing beats (Vejr, Měkkota, Medvěd, Sýkorka), Various types of Czech, Horacky and Lašky Polkas, Špicpolky, Furiant, Valašská Točená (introductions, whirling, improvization - whirling girls and moving men), Mazur (Lašský dvojtanec), Pilky, Čeladenský, Lašský Ondraš, Valašský Odzemek, Zemplínské Karičky, Bašistovská.

Methodic preparations exercises at the bar and suppleness in complex and challenging forms. Various dance versions and variations of Czech, Moravian and Silesian dances. Instruction in pair dances and work on pair coordination and relationship in dancing. Preparing folk dance instruction for 4th year students. Creating model instruction lesssons.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Instruction preparations for instructing folkdance for the 5th study year. Creation of a model instruction lesson. Dance variations and their adjustment for a given age range.
