Learning outcomes of the course unit:

LInked to the Analysis of Music Theory Texts 5 course. Study of medium length complex literature with focus on writings about 20th century music, nominal texts on tone and compostion technique systems and new elements of music (micro-intervals, non-music sounds). A gradual transition to more extensive theory writings. The year's paper is required to have significant independent handling content and critical assessment of the discussed issue. Continued study of classical music theory.

Mode of study:

Classes with individual student performances and subsequent discussion.

Completion of Music Theory Text Analysis 5. No other requirements.

Course contents:

A required course for Music Theory studies. Instruction is 1 hour per week in the summer semester of the 3rd year of Bachelor's study. Linking of Music Theory, History and Classification. Study of intermediate extent and complex music theory writings focused on 20th century music, in particular new tone and composition techniques and new music and sound material (micro-intervals, non-music sounds) Parallel study of classic music theory writings. The semester paper is to be of critique-evaluation character with an increased section of the students distinctive approach to the material. The completed writing is the Bachelor's thesis.
