Learning methodic reading and writing of professional texts with a focus on the bachelor's and master's theses. Basic techniques in working with resources and literature, footnotes and other elements of documentation. Instruction in the basic requirements and issues in forming a presentational text.

- Course contents:

An elective course for all studies and study years in Music arts programs. Instruction is for 1 semester in two identical cycles in the Winter and Summer semesters (see Music Theory Seminar 2). A presentation of the basic methods of reading and writing professional publications. Working with sources and literature, creating notation tools, bearing in the main bibliographic (RILM, RIPM) and source (RISM) databases. Manners of citation and other references, professional writings documentation tools. The presentation is supplemented by exercises and excursions to the Czech Republic National Library, Music Dept. (instruction in working with the main databases).

Participation in lectures and exercises, attendance in excursions to the Music Department of the Czech Republic National LIbrary. Development of sample texts according to individual assignment (in principle related to the graduation paper).
