Learning outcomes of the course unit:

1. To introduce students to key topics of general teaching and psychology

2. To introduce students to education principles and training styles in arts education studies

3. To introduce students to issues in elementary and intermediate arts education including specific issues of creativity and individual human development factors.

Mode of study:

Lecture, moderated discussion, analysis of student assignments on individual lecture topics, writings analysis.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

General cutural and basic history overview.

Introduction to Teaching is understood as an initial component for acquiring a quality education-psychology education in the study of Dance education

Course syllabus:

The course aim is to acquaint student with key topics of general education and psychology, academic principles and teaching styles in arts-education professions, with the issues of elementary and intermediate arts education including particular questions of creativity and human individual development factors.

Lecture, exercises, independent study, professional writings analysis

Assessment methods and criteria:

Credit is awarded based on:

Lecture and exercise participation

completion of the semester paper and its presentation at the exam.

oral exam.

During the semester independent professional literature readings and discussion participation which is a requirement for exam participation are required.

The exam is divided into two parts: written and oral. The overal grading is comprised of 30% for exercise participation, 20% for the exam written part and 50% for the oral part.

Requirement for successful completion of the course: lecture and exercise participation, literature readings, completion and presentation of the semester paper.
