1) Recapitulation of the main themes set for the MA exam.
2) Leading students to be able to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
3) The art of selecting/distinguishing important from inessential information.
4) Developing the ability to hold a dialogue on the relevant theme and formulate and defend their own opinion.

Attendance at theatre performances chosen according to the selected topics after which will be discussions.

Curriculum:
1) Choice of themes from the MA work, including choice of consultants.
2) Preparing the selected themes from the MA exam and their presentation in the seminar.
3) Discussion of the prepared themes and form of their presentation.
4) Video-projections and visits to theatre performances on the selected themes.
5) Discussion on examples from productions, or performances viewed; comparison of the performances viewed with themes from the MA exams.
6) Comparison of theory and specific experience; checking that students are able to apply the knowledge they have acquired.
Syllabus:
In the seminar, students recapitulate their knowledge of the history and theory of dramatic art from the origins of theatre to the most important developments in world theatre of the 20th Century, including their knowledge of the leading figures involved in these developments. Emphasis is given to finding connections between events in Czech theatre and international developments, along with the ability to reflect on historical materials in specific examples of famous productions, or the ability to reflect on history and theory based on the students' own experience. The seminar emphasises independent thought, the ability to formulate and defend opinions on the relevant theme and the ability to select the most important items from the information available.
