To introduce students to the important stage in the development of Czech drama based on an analysis of selected representative works from the middle of the 19th to the middle of the 20th century.

Relationships of Czech theatre, drama and literature in the period of the formation of New era Czech theatre culture (from the secon half of the 19th century and on). This course develops the knowledge acquired in History of Theatre in the Context of Western Culture I and II.

To receive credit 80% class participation, completion of assignments at home (papers, partial written work) and, of course, joining in to discussions. The course is concluded with an exam and if needed also a final written paper.
