After viewing a selected European film, students are acquainted with a view and analysis of that film in a lecture and discussion with director E. Zaoralová.

Eva Zaoralova is a recognized Czech Film theoretician, journalist and translator who has served the popularization of Czech film throughout the world. She has been involved in film journalism and reviews since the 1960s and was the chief of the magazine „Film and Epoch.“ She has taught at FAMU where she gave lectures on film history. She has sat on the juries of many important foreign film festivals. This year she received from Vaclav Klause at Prague Castle a medal of service and in 2002 received damehood from the French Council of Art and Literature. In 2007 she received and award for her longstanding jounalism work at the Cannes Festival. Eva Zaoralova has been connected to the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival since the beginning of its new era. In 1994, with Jiří Bartoška, she began efforts to renew the prestige of this film festival and has been the artistic director since 1995. Under her leadership, the program team of the Karlovy Vary festival has successfully created a festival comparable to the most prestigous world competition reviews.
Eva Zaoralova is a member of the Czech Film and Television Academy presidium and a member of the European Film Academy. She has sat on the juries of many international film festivals (Venice, Berlin, Cannes, Mannheim, Turin, Trieste). As a journalist she has taken part in the work or the International Film Federation press (FIPRESCI).
In 2002 the French government bestowed upon her the title „Chevalier de l´Ordre des Arts et des Lettres“. In 2009 her service to culture was recognized by the Czech Republic Ministry of Culture medal. At the 60th Anniverary of the founding of the Cannes Festival, Gilles Jacob awarded her a „Golden Palm“ plaque for her longstanding journalism activity.
