Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The lectures alone will be logically influenced and updated to the real and true state of Czech Television with a view to the active management team. This topic should excite, mainly, those students who wish to link their career to public sector television.

Mode of study:

The lecture is part of the 3rd section. 1/ - introduction to current television, survey of viewer ratings of full-format TV and assessment of currently broadcasted programs, discussion of current topics. 2/ - separate lectures on topics, 3/ - questions over the presented topics and supplementary information. Aside from the standard lectures of at least 1x/semester are excursions to Czech Television or program shooting locations.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Successfull completion of the course at ZS.

Shooting technology

Film and TV production shooting technology. Manners and equipment for recording image and sound. Post-production for shooting technology.

Sequencing equipment.

Use of non-shooting equipment for television production, its advantages and disadvantages. Manners of recording, post-production.

Direct television broadcast.

Technical research, inspection, broadcast as a particular section of television production.

Television effects and their use.

Computer graphics and their use. Graphics and television programs.

Newscasts in television production.

Newscasts and sports programs, production, post-production and their handling. Newscast working systems.

Borrowed programs

Check-in, Types of sound design. Rights to purchased progams. Production crew members, writers, performers and others.

Sound finishing work.

Post-synchronics, archived and composed music. Background noise, Background noise studios. Mixing work. International tracks, dialogue sheets.

Closing a program.

Production and program closing reports. Registering with protective organizations, archiving. Review and explanation.

TV program broadcast.

TV program check-in, broadcast of promotions and advertisement. VPS signals, hidden subtitiles. Teletext and its interactive use.

Television signal broadcast.

Analog and digital ground broadcast. Cable and satellite broadcast. Unilateral broadcasts. The EBU contribution network.

The Summer semester is completed with an oral exam. Active participation in lecture and a minimum of 75% attendance are required.
