Exhibition and lecture in Brno

Summary:

Erwin Raupp (1863-1931) was an important Sessionist photographer. His collection of photos which were taken during his stay in Moravian Slovacka in 1904 is quite unique. Raupp's collection gives an image of everyday and holy day folk culture and is one of the first comprehensive artistic documentaries in the world. Jaroslav Bárta has taken part in the exhibition with the publication of an extensive monograph which presents all to date known photos in the collection of the Moravian Land Museum in Brno, Slovacko Museum in Uherském Hradišti and the National Museum in Prague.

Module description:

The basis of the module are lectures by Doc. Jaroslava Bártá and PhDr. Heleny Beránková from the Moravian Land Museum and a subsequent commented exhibit review. Jaroslav Bártá's lecture is focused on a comparison of the photographs of Erwin Raupp and the images bz Jože Uprka. PhDr. Helena Beránkové will present color slides by Erwin Raupp and place them into the period context.

The module is supplemented by a visit to the exhibition ''In the Full Spectrum - Photos from 1900 - 1950 from the Moravian Gallery in Brno collections, which provide a good orientation in the development of photography in the given period.
