Screenprinting is graphic images pressed through a stencil which are considered works of art and each printing is considered and original (max. 200).

Screenprinting is a very old technology which has its roots in Japan prior to our common era. The greatest technical development occured during the Second World War when the American Forces used if for printed material, orientation boards and marking weapons.

This technique made its greatest impact in the arts during the „popart“ period. Photography is often used as the basis for screenprinting. Screenprinting, today, continues to develop and represents one of the current options for working with photography.

The Seriography module focuses on the technical basics of creating the printing basis, creative use of the potential of screenprinting and printing graphic pages.

The first part of the moducle takes place March 16th at 9:30 in Classroom T304 and will be focused on an introduction to Screenprinting theory, using creative processes and printing preparations.

The second part of the module takes place gradually in Jan Měřička's studio in Křižany.
