The aim of the course is to explore and become aware of the power of gesture and its particular expression potential. An art theory and practice where the main emphasis is on the acting figure and his ability to abstract from reality expressive signs and present them in powerful simple forms.
- Mode of study:

An intensive instruction module taking place at UVS Poněšice. Part of the instruction is practical physical exercises. Appropriate exercise clothing without printing and in neutral colors is necessary.

This course provides a basic glimpse into acting from an anthropological point of view. No special preparations are necessary.
A maximum of 15 students may register for the module.

Gesture and mimic acting is in a group with pantomime and animated film.
Curriculum:
Parts of the acting body and their use.
Creating a figure.
Abstracting from the observed in reality.
The figure as the basis for creating character and the figure as an expression of emotion. Theory of the genesis of gesture and its function.
Human non-verbal communication. It's nature and particulars. Why body language is the fundamental expressive ability of humans.
Through etude studies, to expand the awareness of movement expression from the acting viewpoint. Creating gestures in space and time. Study of characters and their main traits, body, gesture and mimicry structure. Classification of figures and gestures according to characters, emotions and their use in playing a situation.

Active approach to physical exercises which guide one toward the understanding of the basic relations of the human body.

Movement expression is a characteristic of every human being, therefore movement is the first expression of life. Everyone can become an actor who WANTS to. Understanding the function of gestures and mutual relations of individual parts of the body is an adventurous process based on the performance of systematic physical exercises. The pantomime principle of acting (embodiment) is the basis for any type of acting expression. A maximum of 15 may register for the course.
