Topic: Closing - Discussions over lectures, feedback, colloquium

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Participation: Students are to attend lessons, including film screenings.

Activity: Students are to join into dicussions - debates about films which are an important part of the lessons.

Presentation: Each student will lead at least one discussion about a film shown in the previous class and contribute a brief summary presentation.

Essay (3pgs. minimum, i.e. 1,050 words): An essay about one Film Noir; Students will create their own topic, which will be consulted upon with the instructor.

Due date: 27 March.

Colloquium: Film Noir discussion. Students demonstrate a knowledge of the topic and films discussed during the semester. Date: May 15.

Course contents:

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with one of the most interesting American styles of film - Film Noir and as well its successors. Each lesson is focused on one aspect of Film Noir. Students will have the opportunity to view a number of well-known and lesser-known excerpts from Film Noir and 11 feature-length films (most in English with Czech subtitles). This course is a continuation from the Winter 2012 semester course and is designed to be comprehensible also for students who did not complete the Winter semester.
