Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Introduction to the phonetic, grammatic and lexical basics of the English language.

Use of basic vocabulary to react in simple everyday situations.

Mode of study:

Readings and text analysis, listening, presentation and practice of grammar and lexical structures, moderated discussions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Knowledge of English at the prior course level (A1/1, A1/2)

Recommended optional programme components:

No elective requirements.

Course contents:

Development of all language skills:

Speaking: Active use of a fundamental vocabulary and simple phrases regarding everyday life.

Writing: Simple text on a postcard or email.

Topics: family, school, the city, housing, describing things and people.

Grammar: articles, modal verbs in the present, Present simple and continuous, Past tense, Present perfect, phrases with „going to“, future tense.
