Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Ability to communication in practical situations.

Ability to describe one's experiences, events, goals and formulate opinions.

Study vocabulary.

Mode of study:

Reading and text analysis, listening, presentation and practice of grammar and lexical structures. moderated discussions, preparation and analysis of one's written work, discussions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Requirement for registration is a knowledge level at the lower course level (A21,A22).

Recommended optional programme components:

No elective requirements.

Course contents:

Practice of grammar and vocabulary in communication situations and expanding study vocablary.

Students understand the main idea clearly and comprehensible information regarding common topics encountered at work, school and free time, etc. They are able to manage most situations which may occur in area where the language is spoken. They are able to write simply and coherently on topics known well or are personally interesting. They are able to describe their experiences and events and briefly explain and justify their opinions and plans.

The grammar and conversation topics below are merely for orientation and may change according to the needs of the group and current topic. Grammar: past perfect, past modal verbs, verb phrases, passive structures, tense and conditional sentences, indirect speech, relative clauses, prepositional phrases, phrasal verbs, articles.

Writing of formal and personal letters.

Topics: school, work, free time, residence, travel.
