Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Ability to communicate in simple practical situations.

Basic study vocabulary

Mode of study:

Readings and analysis, listenings, presentation and practice of vocabulary and grammar structures, moderated discussions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Requirement: Lower level course knowledge.

Recommended optional programme components:

No elective requirements.

Course contents:

Speaking: active use of the basic repertoire of verbs and simple phrases regarding common life.

Writing: Simple writing on a postcard or email.

Topics: Travel, family, describing things and people

Grammar: past participles and passé composé, the verb 'faire,' prepositions in the city and country, independent personal pronouns, the pronoun 'quel', 3rd class verbs, the imperative, independent demonstrative pronouns, negatives with personne, rien, jamais, plus, numbers 11-20, contracted article with the preposition 'de.'

Topics and grammar correspond to lessons 9-12 from the basic coursebook.

Upon successful completion of the course, the supplementary course „French Practice 2“ is recommended.

If the student is unable to attend classes due to extenuating circumstances (internship, competition, or serious health issues), they are obligated to contact the instructor and acquire materials and arrange a consultation. Otherwise, the student shall not receive credit.
