- Learning outcomes of the course unit:

This course serves as methodic practice and explanation of all the oboe player issues. In simple etudes and recital pieces playing problems are identified and defined which the student may encounter in their activities in performance and in teaching.
1. Instruction of proper breathing using breathing exercises.
2. Instruction in creating tone, various embouchure methods.

3. Proper tonguing in setting method
4. Proper tonguing in staccato method
5. Holding the instrument, relaxing muscles and lightness of coordination.
6. Reed production methods.

- Course contents:

This course prepares students for the education track at middle-schools, conservatories or music schools. It also helps student understand oboe playing and it practical uses. Considering that at this school level the standard and skills of the pupils is different, this method covers each level separately. First of all the methodology aspect covers all attributes of oboe playing directly in the student's playing. The all method exercises are defined. This is proper breathing, creating a tone, proper embouchure, fingering technique, performance and literature. This course covers breath, tone, embouchure, holding of the instrument, muscle relaxation and lightness in overall coordination. Breath in oboe playing is one of the most important factors. The entire futher development and potential depends on the mastery of proper breath technique. Breathing is methodically practiced using breathing exercises. Creating tone is closely relatded to this. Linked to breathing methodology is embouchure and an analysis of proper setting and particular pressure of the lips and the upper and lower teeth. Proper tongue function is divided into to parts. The first covers setting, various types and potential. The second covers staccato, its speed, length and quality. Reed making is also practiced.
