The tuba is an instrument that exists in many music groups. This course gradually provides students with all skills and knowledge needed in playing the tuba. This course has the goal of preparing students for the independent soloist, chamber or professional orchestra track. The instructional area is not neglected. The graduate will be prepared for the teaching track at middle schools and conservatories. The student must sit an entrance exam for the course, in which talent, stage performance skills and technical maturity is assessed. The primary element of instruction is the recognition of improper habits or unresolved issues which the student bring with them. Many are in regards to creating tones, improper breathing and ignorance of proper technique principles. The technical aspect of playing is instructed using more simple etudes - Koprasch, Hoza - where it is possible to precisely show where correction is necessary and how to reach it most effectively. This is primarily exercises in holding the first notes in a group of fast tones, for example the first and third of 4 sixteenth notes, or first of three in a triplet, etc, individual exercises for tone quality. Proper embouchure technique and breathing exercises are also part of instruction and are performed so that they correspond to the individual skills of the student. Musicality and performance principles in classics literature are instructed in compositions by Marcello, Telemann, Haendel, Pasculli, Lebedev for their clear structure and simple technique aspects. This primarily regards phrase structure, themes, climaxes, dynamics, cadence structure, etc. This is all part of instruction in a middle school but students do not always have compreshensive knowledge which may be used in the trade.
