Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Work continues in connection with the covered material in the course Folkdance Methods 1.

Mode of study:

Creation of simple variations and other adjustments for lower study years in dance studies. Curriculm for ZUŠ, dance studies and folk dance courses.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Presumed participation in folkdance technique. Folkdance Methods 1 is required.

Recommended optional programme components:

An elective element is the attendance at, a minimum of one, folklor performance or festival during the bachelor study.

Course contents:

Basic dance steps" Dance steps begin to be joined into simple phrases. Students learn to create smaller units of related and interrelated steps. Creations are logically linked so they they will be easy for students to master.

Combinations at the barre: The foundation is semi-squats, squats, double springs, cradles, small pushes, small swings, shifting weight on the legs, triangles, double steps (heel-toe), basic cross-steps (moving and jumping).

Working on relaxing: walking in various figures, in pairs and groups. Neighbor steps in pairs in turns and spins. Polka steps forward, back and in turns and spins, in pairs holding hands. trojdup and trojnatřásak, double-step in turns and spins indivuduallz and jump steps in spins individually to the right and left. Mazurka in cross pair holds with spins and changing places. Reel steps in double and triple (from dances Do kolečka and do kola).

Dance repertoire: Development of children's dance games and dances in to more colorful forms. Working with exercises and instruction of additional dances: Vjěněc (Lašská version), Cipovičky and Cibulička, Manžestr, Bažant, Dokolečka (Chodský dvoudobý and třídobý vyšlapávaný), Cigánský, Kalamajka, Švec, Doudlebská polka, Mlynářský.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

Methodic introduction to the instruction of folk dance for pupils at conservatories, Elementary arts schools and dance studies. Work continues the covered material from the previous course. Instruction of basic step and dance motifs of folk dance. Preparations for instruction of folk dance for 3rd year students, creation of a model instruction lesson.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Work evaluated in class. Analysis of variations of simple dances and children's folklore games. Preparations for instructing folkdance for 3rd year students. Creating a instruction lesson.
