Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The instruction aim is to introduce dance education students to teaching procedures of dance gymnastics which develops not only physical condition and overall movement but also serves the elementary level of instruction and development of pupils' expression and acting skills

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Movement and Dance experience is required.

Recommended optional programme components:

Course contents:

Instruction follows dance gymnastics instruction methods at Czech dance conservatories. In the first semester this covers the following topics: exercises on the floor - increasing spinal flexibility, strengthening the abdominal, hip and back musculature, increasing hip, knee, and tarsus joint flexibility, skill exercises (rolling, somersaults, bridges, side and rear handsprings). Exercises in a space - unwinding feet, walking, running and jumping, springs, jumping steps, cut and long jumps, turns with impulse and switching.
