Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Independent and creative approach to the method of instruction of main music theory disciplines.

1. Harmony instruction issues.

2. Music form instruction issues.

3. Counterpoint and composition analysis instruction issues.

1. Knowledge of harmony at the conservatory level

2. Knowledge of music forms at the conservatory level

3. Knowledge of counterpoint and composition analysis at the conservatory level

Course contents:

Introduction to the main educational foundations and particulars of instructing theory subjects at Music middle schools. Main discipline methods, listening and independent education performance.

1. Methodology issues in 20th century harmony instruction.

2. Methodology issues in 20th century counterpoint instruction.

3. Methodology issues related to non-traditional music forms

4. Methodology issues in music form and genres

5. Listening and independent education presentations.
