Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Exercises with the aim to expand, improve and develop composition skills in working with music.

Mode of study:

Development of harmonic and counterpoint tasks, one's own composition.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Knowledge of harmony, counterpoint, intonation and form at the conservatory level.

Recommended optional programme components:

One's attempts in composition study.

Course contents:

Exercises of the composition techniques in vocal and instrumental polyphonic, modal and tonal harmony, tonally expanded harmony, working with pitches in dodecaphony, serial and multiserial methods, modern modality, application of traditional and moder meter-rhythm principles, working with polyrhythms, polymeters and multimeters, creating tectonic structures according to assignment and individual level of maturity - in connection with the topics of the main study course; Music Theory - Classification.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Credit is awarded based on participation in exercises, fulfilling the assigned tasks, development and submission of the semester paper.

Overall grading is comprised of 70% for participation in exercises and 30% for the semester paper.
