This course explains the basic events and concepts of physical, physiological, musical, psychological, spatial and structural acoustics.

Oscillation and its basic dimensions

dampened and non-dampened oscillations, resonance

Compostion of oscillations, harmonic tones, spectrum, tone color

Wave in point rows and its basic dimensions

Gradual longitudinal and transverse waves

wave reflection, interference, rise of standing longitudinal and transverse waves

Spatial waves, plane and spherical waves

Huyghen's principle, wave spread around a barrier, reflection and bending waves

Basic acoustic dimensions and their interpretation

The Doppler principle, Chladni patterns

Acoustic elements and systems

The structure of the human ear, the ear canal, hearing theory

The hearing field, superluminal volume, volume depth, volume census

Masking, critical bandwidth

Pitch, the distinguishing abilities of the ear, musical ear

listening time-thresholds

distortions in the hearing organ, combinations of tones and their significance

Adaptation, exhaustion and hearing defects, audiometry

Binaural and spatial hearing
