Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Practicing music recording editing with a view to the selection of takes used in respect to the music and sound aspect. Practicing manual and automated mixing of various sound material with consideration of the various manner of processing a sound signal. Practicing with artificial reverb and delay links. Practicing basic modifications in reconstruction of a sound recording.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Basic knowledge of acoustics, electro-acoustics, music signal theory and music theory. Assured knowledge in working with Macintosh and PC operating systems.

Course contents:

Restoring a sound recording:

noise reduction of an analog MG recording

noise reduction of a cracked record

reduction of a recording non-linear distortion

reduction of recording hum

reduction of outages and recording limitations

reduction and expansion of the frequency range

Adjusting the mono-phonic and stereo-phonic sound image.
