Learning outcomes of the course unit:

To enrich and equip students with the most comprehensive drawing and painting skills for their own set-design practice.

Searching paths to one's own painting pieces based on acquired skills and experience.

To bring students nearer to the natrure of 3D creation. Artistic skills to express those intentions. Attempts at one's artistic creations. Review of acquired experience and application in some set-design disciplines / puppets, set objects, etc./ To acquaint students with the basic trade disciplines, such as casting and working with modern materials.

Manner:

In regular studio exercises, the course instructor corrects drawing and painting studies which increase in difficulty. These are individually managed according to previous artistic training.

Drawings of reality - architecture, landscape, still-life, drapery, portrait, figures, nudes.

Paintings of reality - architecture, landscape, still-life, drapery, portrait, figures, nudes.

One's own interpretation of reality in painting, experiments.

Classical modelling instruction, corrected by instructor.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Talent is the only prerequisite and is verified in the talent test in the entrance process.

No special knowledge is required.

Recommended optional programme components:

No elective requirements.

Course contents:

Real object drawing, captured by basic drawing techniques, study of the fundamental real relationship of materials, space, perspective, lines and surfaces, shape, dimension, light and shadow, structure in drawing architecture, landscapes, still-life, fabrics, clothing, portraits.

Modelling and sculpture is a part of artistic training for set-design, expanding student understanding in the perception of a three-dimensional space.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

Attendance in „plain air“ whose instruction aims assume, the same as classical drawing or landscape painting, modern art disciplines - land-art, body-art, etc.

Possible „plain air“ instruction, land-art, etc.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Credit is awarded based on the completion of the prescribed extent of the assignments and attendance at semester presentations.

The artistic level of all assignments and participation at studio correction exercises are graded.
