- Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The subject's aim is to explain set design's function, its content and place among other elements of artistic work. It looks at its content and position in the hierarchy of production work and how it overlaps with other areas of visual work. Students meet individual teachers and have the opportunity to compare their opinions on the subject, reflect on how they differ and concur, and through discussion can reach their own conclusions on the subject.

Instruction is through class discussions with introductory lectures, generalizing the status of set-design in the production process of a theatre piece. Students have the opportunity to meet with important people in the set-design profession and those related (film, artistic disciplines, etc.).
In comparing individual viewpoints, students have help in investigating and fomulating their own viewpoints. Both semesters are concluded with an essay subjected to discussion by the study-year group.

Curriculum:
1. Alternative and puppet theatre (subject, symbol, puppet etc.).
2. Relationship between object and subject.
3. Elements of the theatre production and their hierarchy.
4. Understanding the historical perspective of set design?s function.
5. Set design in the context of other artistic subjects and trends.
Syllabus:
Through theoretical discussion of the theatre and reflections on visited productions, with an emphasis on the visual aspect, to introduce students to the area that will form the individual basis of their future studies and constitute their future creative work. Set design students will meet students of direction, enabling not only a mutual exchange of opinions but also the creation of future points of agreement in their joint work in a creative team.
