1. To introduce students to the fundamental theory of „creative industries,“ studies and debates on the impact of the „creative industry“ on economics
2. To analyse the cultural policies of the Czech Republic and selected cities and guide the students in a discussion of this topic.
3. To cover current topics of „live“ arts from the perspective of cultural policy and the „creative industry.“

- Course contents:

Cutural and creative industries are important source of employment, economic growth and an interesting element of VAT. The debate on and theory of this phenomenon is not unknown even in the Czech Republic. The course content is an introduction to the main opinion currents in creative and cultural industries and the study results which link the debate to their impact on economics.
The purpose of this debate is to provide the students with arguments for joining into the discussion about cultural policy and the societal situation of culture in the Czech Republic. Analyses of Czech Republic cultural policy, independent cities, and politcal parties is the basis for forming independent viewpoints and external examination. In team classes students express themselves over current cultural policy and theatre-management issues.

Credit is awarded based on:
- attendance and participation in class. Maximum number of excused absences is 3.
- presenation of the course paper.
During the semester participation in class discussions is required. The overall grading is comprised of 60% for class participation, 40% for presentation of the course paper.
