Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The course aim is to develop creativity, knowledge, experience and abilities in student independent considerations and the increase of their competency in research.

It is recommended that the student, according to their topic, actively search for a nd participate in lectures at other higher education institutes, professional seminars, ex. professional organizations or conferences related to the given issues.

Course contents:

Instruction is based on the approved and defended master's project by which the student was accepted into master's study. The project is, in principle, a theory research of a particular area of production, management or admistration of artistic activity. The foundation is the research work of the student under the guidance of an instructor from the department. The results of the artistic/research/development work is defended by the student after the first semester in a presentation of the current findings before a commission and at the end of the second semester in public presentation.

Assessment methods and criteria:

For successful completion of the course, the following is required.

On-going consultations on work with an instructor and participation in group classes.

At the close of the semester there is an obligatory oral presentation according to the following criteria:

- each student presents the closing of their master's year research which, in the main study, they resolved and consulted and completed or prepared to complete the thesis.;

- the presentation is min. 15 and max. 20 min. in length whose content is a summary of the acquired knowledge and derived conclusions and also information about the paper writing process.

- the formal quality of the presentation is, along with content, a criterium of the final grading of the course.

- after the topic presentation, the student moderates the subsequent discussion which does not exceed 20 min; the manner of discussion moderation is part of the students performance grade;

AT LEAST ONE MONTH PRIOR to the public presentation date (published on the dept. webpage), the student uploads to the net server the written annotation of the presented work in 600-1000 characters which will be printed in the presentation program;

AT LEAST ONE WEEK PRIOR the the presentation the student records electronically to the net server the final report of the project maintaining the following:

Extent: 12-15 standard pages of coherent essay text + addenda

Required content sections:

1. Justification of topic selection, measure of personal relationship to the selected topic

2. Establishment of original research taks and corrections in the course of work (project aim corrections, limitation, justifications)

3. Project plan and its correction in the course of work (stages, methods)

4. Description of individual project stages and their partial results

5. Special research (theory foundations, sources, selected methodologies)

6. Conclusions, evaluation of the measure of fulfillment of aim.

A merging of submitted material is preferred into one PDF format document.

NO LATER THAN ONE DAY PRIOR to the presentation date, the student uploads to the net server the prepared presentation in presentation sofware, or at least the basics of their contributions in the extent of 3 standard pgs. max.

At the close of the presentation the commission, comprised of Photography Dept. internal instructors grades the quality of the submitted final report, executed presentation and course of work over the entire year on the researched project and awards the student a grade. Though this is a main study course, THE EXAM MAY NOT BE REPEATED.
