Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Experimenting with the potential of scriptwriting inspiration of the local landscape, architecture and character of the buildings.

This course is part of the elective courses at the Faculty.

FAMU students will be provided with a subsidy for travel and accommodation in the form of a scholarship sent directly to an account.

Course contents:

Course outline: Excursion to a selected location. Work on script etudes inspired by the character of the local landscape and architecture. Comparison of potential perceptions of architecture and charater of buildings of the given location from a scriptwriting perspective and interpretive procedures of social anthropology.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

1.) Friday excursion to a selected location as a group. access to spaces in a selected region. Architectural tour. Study of construction characteristics and attempt to reconstruct based on what is seen of the regions history. Acquaintance with the basics of the anthropological method of observation and interpretation in contrast to basic staging methods (paranoid-critical).

2.) On Saturday, a presentation of the local architecture, additional independent investigations of regional spaces and the immediate surroundings from a potential story inspiration perspective. Subsequent writings (stories, scripts). Comparison of artistic approaches in interpreting the character of the given location (emphasis on plot, fantasy elements of the narrative) and anthropological approach (emphasis on investigating sensible and probable story variations).

3. On Sunday, the final event in the regional spaces - attempt to create a space of the region in a artistic installation.

This module is intended primarily for 2nd year Dept. of Scriptwriting and editing bachelor students.

If there is interest, it is possible to fill the class with students from other Dept. of Scriptwriting and Editing in other study years or from other FAMU Depts. (report in person to the Scriptwriting and Editing Dept.
