Department of Screenwriting and Script-editing students (respectively the editing board, authorized by the study-year's students) select a determined number of etudes which the students wrote in the Winter semester of the first study-year. Two etudes from each writer of the 16 offered. However, upon agreement with the writer, the number may be less. In place of a finished etude the screenwriter may submit a new independent writing. The writings will be presented by the writers in a group class. Students from all departments select a reduced number of etudes - proposals which will continue to the next stage of work. The recommended number is 4 to 8. The producers then have the opportunity (not the obligation) to select a proposal which they will employ. This will constitute a defined number of project that the directors will assemble a crew for. The crew is comprised of asigne from the producer, the director, screenwriter (if possible, not the writer of the proposal), and a dramaturgist. Some functions may be shared by multiple students. There is then crew teamwork on the project in the alterations of the script, technical screenplay, calculations, proposed cast and motif - the entire pre-production. This work will occur in group classes and at each stage will be compared with the collective dramaturgy through a presentation and open discussion. All students then (with the instructor in an advisory capacity) select projects most suitable for execution. The selected projects, that is, those which best fulfill the requirements for content and formal value and economy in implementation, with recommendation of the lead instructor, will apply for financing from the FAMU internal grant. The implementation decision will be made by the Selection committee of the FAMU Internal Grant independent of the group classes. Another option (ex: sharing group exercises in the extended White Book) is not possible. The financial situation of the faculty does not allow this. Any participation in the eventual execution of the project is then possible and welcomed (actors, services, all types of support).
