Workshop Věra Chytilová - Vít Olmer ::
This workshop is based on the use of the particulars of film language, tranformation of the perception of reality through the selected aesthetic form with the goal of self-application of the subject towards the surrounding world. Basicall this involves auteur film which desires with it's particular perception, view and understanding and finally formation - that is by an individual style to unify a given reality. This is not only about individual form but rather about individual layering. In the face of these layers we pose common question about sense and significance.
Workshop Jan Němec - Petr Marek:
The idea of the Acting direction Dept is in my imagination divided into two basic tasks: The first is the access to to-date research of cinematic language and the second is to create room for continuity in this research in the investigation of new narrative forms. This sounds simple, however, I am convinced that a school is not a guarantee of quality in such a complex world of film communication. Therefore we often talk about parallel two-poled principles of Directing education. One side originates in the classics and the other the displayed tendencies toward freedom and experimentation. A fundamental step in the beginning of a film education is the doing away with its myths.
Workshop Marek Bouda - Ivan Vojnár
Directing a study-year or a workshop is not merely a question of pedagogical fulfillment. The main instructor creates a climate for the students which is fundamental for their development. This means going out on a limb as a professional and as a person. The instructor has real power over the students and to a certain extent control their destiny and not only artistically. A few observations regarding this: A/ Empathy. It is not the task of the instructor to form the student, they are formed by their own acquired experiences. The instructor opens avenues, opens up potential. The instructor does not try to make them passable, nor pass through before the student. The instructor discusses and argues. Both participants are equal partners. The instructor empathises with the students start, the potential. Leads the student through their journey, not his own. B/ Inspiration and provocation. The instructors approach is stimulating. The student is taught to see, investigate, explore, permeate and as well the instructor learns. The student's imagination, precision and profound vision, and sincerity of approach is provoked. The mutual exchange is creative. The instructor surprises in order to surprise himself. This is not about some kind of chaperoning. The students are adults and able people. The instructor is a challenge for the students and as well the students for the instructor. C/ Professionalness and responsibility. The directing student must manage the limits of film production. This is initiated by a professional approach which must not become a false spell. This is the way to master the practice, no the goal. The goal primarily is the personal artistic growth and development of the student.
