Subject guarantor:
Jiří MYSLÍK
Name of lecturer(s):
Jiří MYSLÍK
Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Theoretical knowledge and practical experience from the film exponometry and senzitometry.

Mode of study:

8-hours long workshop.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

None

Recommended optional programme components:

None

Course contents:

Students learn methods of measuring the sensitivity of negative film stock and get acquainted with the issue of the digital image exponometry.

The students verify the relation between the primary reality and its reproduction on film stock (the negative-positive process) and learn to practically use the spot exponometry method to determine the limit values of brightness of the shot scene, reproducible on release print and observable during projection (the definition of the „limit white“ and „limit black“). They will also learn the possibilities for correcting incorrectly exposed negative stock during the printing process and the contrast (and/or saturation and colour) degradation of image when using the extremes of the film stock's sensitometric curve.

Recommended or required reading:

Densitometer, spot-meter, spot-meter generator, digital SLR camera, video camera.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

None

Assessment methods and criteria:

Active participation in the workshop is a prerequisite for the granting the evaluation.
