The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the changes in the world of audio-visual media in the era of technology convergence which we understand as the on-going coming together of media (film, radio, televsion, on-line, social networks, etc.) from the perspective of preparations, distribution and perception of content.

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the changes in the world of audio-visual media in the era of techology convergence which is understood as the on-going coming-together of media (film, radio, television, on-line, social networks, etc.) from the perspective of the preparation, distribution and perception of content. The ambiguity of the concept of convergence refers not olny to the technological development of media but also the basic changes in the structure of media organization, media content and finally change in the relationships among receivers, producers and distributors of media content.
The course content will include an whole scale of items related to convergence.
Lectures and classes are according to topics divided into 4 blocks:
1) basic concept regarding media and its convergence (convergence, mediamorphosis, multi-tasking, multi-medialization, media monopoly, etc.), explanaton of concepts and example from practice (samples from film and TV)
2) change is audience behaviour in the era of technological convergence (multi-medialization of the home and children'sroom, spill-overs audiences between independent types of media, the role of multi-tasking in media consumption of independent parts of the audience)
3) convergence and its influence on the function of media organizations (issues of media monopolies, changes in the content of individual professions in media organizations, etc.)
4) convergence of audio-visual media in the Czech Republic and individual stages from the 1990s (changes in dominant TV broadcasters, digitalized broadcast in the Czech Republic, i-broadcasting, YouTube as a phenomenon, etc.)

Credit is awarded based on the class paper on a topic related to the course content and an oral test.
