Generally the course focuses on work in the field with the use of natural light and manners of considering photography as a medium giving an voice to a location or architecture. The course is focused on photographing architecture based on an understanding of the importance of urbanism and architecture as a reflection of society. Students are guided to acquiring information on the given building, it's purpose and function which is to serve one's photographic interpretation corresponding in the quality of the selected architecture. In the practical, attention is devoted to working with large-format equipment, appropriate use of light, potential use of classical or digital technology. Part of the course is an in the field assemblies taking place as a module in selected areas.

Each class will have three parts: a short lecture, discussion on the lecture topic or a topic related to architecture and photography and consultations on photography assignments. Aside from this instruction, there will also be an assembly linked to the photography of modern architecture in Hradec Kralove and one module will be assigned to each student of the course as an elective requirement (upon acquisition of the appropriate credits). The module topics will be assigned during the semester.

Urban development of a development using the Hradec Kralove example
Comparative methods - as an example of changes in the historical center of Prague
Photography as a critical review
The lectures will be accompanied by image presentations. After the lectures will be discussions. Part of these discussions will be student considerations of the photography topic with an explanations of their photographic concept.
Modules:
The result of the artistic residence will be a free collection of photos. These collections are to demonstrate the artistic skills of the students, as well as the understanding of the issues on which the course focuses. The manner of execution is free but must correspond to the selected intentions and be consulted upon, and approved prior by the instructor
Tasks:
The assigned tasks are divided into obligatory and free parts.
The obligatory is a documentation of expression and trade skills in refined subject depiction of a landscape or architecture where part of the task is to document the location selection and execution lighting slected so the lighting is clear on the form of the object, on the perception of space, time and ability to communicate emotion. Completion of this exercise is require in B/W, through a classical photographic pricess: negative - positive.
The free section requires a personal individual expression which originates in a reflection of the space or architecture. The resulting photos must create a comprehensive whole and have the markings of the photographers approach. The purpose is no a repetition of presented processes but a search for one's own path. A written explication is required in which the student gives important information about the selected location or architecture, justifies their selection and formulated considerations of the completion manner.
In the free section, the manner of completion is not determined but all considered treatments must be justified and consulted on prior.

3/ Collection of 6-8 photos - free collection which corresponds to the original approach of the photographic rendering of the selected construction, or another manner that covers architecture or urbanism. The photo treatment is free. Upon justification and agreement it is possible to use digital technology as evident that all technical items will be adhered to in architecture photography. The topic chosen by the student is justified in writing.
4/ The photograph collection is created in the module.
Submission:
B/W or color photography or prints (according to assignment and agreement) min. format 30x40cm. The photograph collection may be bound in a book.

Grading:
Exam: evaluation of all submitted assignments in which the adherence to the assignment, development, individual artistry are judged.
Attendance: a requirement for grading is a required 60% attendance at lectures, participation in assemblies in the field, and submission of photographs at required group consultations established at the beginning of instruction.
