Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The course introduces the main range of issues in photography theory. It presents a history of the development of considerations of the photograph media from its beginning to the present. The structure will be topically arranged rather than chronlogically. Single theory topics will be demonstrated in selected chapters in the history of photography.

This course requires a fundamental familiarity with the history of photography and abilty to read in English.

Course contents:

This course introduces the main range of theory issues in photography. It presents the historical development of thought on photography medium from its beginnings to the present. It will be structured topically rather than chronologically. Single theory topics will be demonstrated in selected chapters in the history of photography.

Assessment methods and criteria:

A public presentation and analysis of a theory issue belonging to a given topic. Participation in discussions.

Sitting the test (4 credits) lies in the execution of two presentations of selected theory writings and a final paper of approx. 10 pages.
