- Learning outcomes of the course unit:

During the course students will receive information about rules of Czech pronunciation, they will learn Czech greetings and basic communicative phrases when shopping and being served in a restaurant. They will get acquainted with the basics of Czech Grammar (Present tense, Accusative case) as well as film terminology through the ?Film Czech? textbook. The course is meant to encourage further studies of Czech in a future course.

Attendance is mandatory. Each lesson builds on material form the previous week, without habitual attendance a student will quickly fall behind. Failing to complete homework assignments on time will also affect a student´s participation grade. Finally, as we are in the Czech Republic, students should speak Czech in their daily interactions throughout Prague. There´s no better method of learning a language than conversing with native speakers.

This is an introductory course tailored to International students of various linguistic and cultural backgrounds studying at FAMU. No previous knowledge of Czech is required.
Grammar: Phonetic and graphic Rules, Verb Conjugations in the Present Tense, Case in the Czech language (Nominative, Accusative). Nouns, Adjectives, Pronouns and Verbs in Czech.
