Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The goal of this exercise is to complete a functioning first draft of feature script that will be ready for further development. Directing students of CDM should finish this project with an understanding how to write a feature script, and hopefully, will have the foundation for their first feature film project upon leaving school. Screenwriting students of CDM will have a first draft which possibly will be used in the rewrite and second draft in future semesters.

Mode of study:

This project will be written in the context of an interactive workshop with at least one instructor and students from the 2nd year of screenwriting in CDM and 3rd year of directing in CDM.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

The exercises in Feature Film Project I are the prerequisite for this project.

Recommended optional programme components:

Students should read other completed screenplays from both produced and not produced films in order to better understand the format.

Course contents:

The project will consist of a completed first draft of a feature length screenplay (90 - 130 pages of standard screenplay format) in the third and fourth semester.

This project will be worked on during the students enrollment in Feature Screenwriting 2.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

Various guest lectures regarding screenwriting will be recommended during the course of the school year.

Assessment methods and criteria:

The script will be evaluated by the instructors periodically during the various stages of writing, and holistically at the end of the academic year.
