Learning outcomes of the course unit:

A reinforcement of the aesthetic perception of the film genre and personal experience with authors or strong reflexive personalities, who come to discuss after the screening. Most films presented here are made by Czech filmmakers.

Screening and following seminar discussion.

Course contents:

Screening of significant Czech films of the past and present, followed by a class with the main creators of the given film.

Recommended or required reading:

In the FAMU Library - information about writers, director memoirs, dictionaries, complete selection of creators' works.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Students select one film for an essay topic which is submitted at the end of the semester (2-3 pages).

Please send all essays to Jitka Hejtmanova (jitka.hejtmanova@famu.cz) till May 31 and not later.
