At the end of this course, you will be able to:

- Overview of the Editing Environment

- Capture media and prepare for editing

- Ingesting File-Based Media

- Organize source material in bins

- Use basic editing techniques

- Trim video and audio

- Organization and Customization - Customize the system, keyboard and

timeline and understanding shortcuts and commands

- Enhance audio

- Create effects

- Understand effects performance and rendering

- Autostabilize images

- Use automatic color correction

- Create titles with Avid Marquee

- Create motion effects

- Manage projects and media

- Output a completed cut

- An overview of Codecs and Video formats.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

- No familiarity with the system is necessary

- Familiarity with Macintosh or Windows Operating System is required

- A background in editing, will help.

Course contents:

This workshop will educate attendees in the core skills, workflows, and concepts involved in professional nonlinear editing on Avid Media Composer

systems. This course leads you through the interface and basic editing techniques before moving on to trimming, fine-tuning the edit, adjusting audio, handling, multicamera editing, adding transitions, adding titles, and outputting your finished project.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

March 21 and March 28 from 9:30am till 11 pm and 2 pm till 5:30 pm.

Students registered for the module are going to be devided into 2 groups.

One group is having class in the morning and the second in the afternoon. It repeats both dates.

Assessment methods and criteria:

Students will be able to understand overview of all the tools and functions of Editing with Avid Media Composer.

Submission of the given question paper and presence in the module will be used for credits of the module (to be handed in till April 4, 2014 to FAMU International office, 4th floor. No exceptions.)

(Students may have there own setup of Avid Media Composer 5 or above installed on their machines, its not necessary as I will teach them through projection.)
