Learning outcomes of the course unit:

Block aimed at practical skills of making storyboard for fiction film.

Mode of study:

A lecture with a small practical excersise.

Prerequisites and co-requisites:

Open for Academy Preparation Program, Cinema and Digital Media program students.

Students are asked to bring an idea or a storyboard for a short film or dramatical situation / sketch ?On the board?.

Recommended optional programme components:

Course contents:

Lecture:

- film formats

- possible storyboards styles and languages

- drawing of the storyboards

- technicalities of the storyboards

- camera movement in storyboards

- architecture, exterior and interiors in storyboards

- animatics

- films made of ?the storyboarding? (Oshima, Bill Plymton, Paul Fierlinger)

- cartoons and comic books background

- From storyboard to finished film

Practical exercise on the spot:

- making a storyboard based on an idea for a short film / sketch

- group evaluation and discussion on presented storyboards
