Learning outcomes of the course unit:

To become familiar with a valid approach to acting, understanding its theoretical principles and able to use its techniques.

Mode of study:

In class exercises, inter-active work on scenes with partners, consultations on scenes with instructor outside class.

Acting Theory I.

Course contents:

This course continues to survey approaches to acting by adding the approach of Robert Cohen. Students apply one approach in the preparation of a scene.

Recommended or required reading:

Robert Cohen. Acting One (Mayfield, 1982)

Robert Cohen. Acting Power (Mayfield, 1978)

Meisner and Longwell. Sanford Meisner on Acting (Vintage, 1987)

Planned learning activities and teaching methods:

Test-week no.6. presentation of Final Scenes with invited audience, week 12- 14.

Assessment methods and criteria:

One Test, presentation of Final Scene.

Students must have 70 % attendance for credit.
