Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The course aim is to provide a basic bearing in current legislation, terminology and principles of copyright protection with an emphasis on audiovisual pieces.

Students are acquainted wit hthe role of collective management and the advantages and disadvantages of the collective management model. Part of the course is also the presentation of alternative approaches to the protection of copyright which is beyond the framework of current legislation, particularly the development of electronic communications. In the practical, students are acquainted with the principles of free licence, particularly, Creative Commons. The conclusion will be devoted to discussions on issues in the relationship of audiovisual pieces in the context of collective managment, free licencing and electronic media.

Course contents:

Basics of copyright and alternative licensing models. The course introduces students to the basic concepts of intellectual rights, particularly copyright.
